Our new house is like these old Lesney diecast vehicles. A bit old, a bit battered, a bit out of date...but still quite charming.
We found these little diecasts in a great swathe of crap left behind by the previous owner.
We'll finish with something pretty...female King Parrot...

Are you living in a rain forest?

Heck no...our property is mostly what’s known as mixed Ironbark/Bloodwood/Brittle Gum woodland...or more technically, dry sc lerophyll woodland. With the emphasis on dry at the moment. Deep in drought...deep.
Australia however is a land of parrots. Many species and most if not all colourful. And where we are is on the boundary between wetter eastern forests and semi-arid plains. So we get a mixture of all sorts of species. King Parrots are birds of the eastern forests.
These whited winged chough however are a bird of the western plains...

It’s hard for me to keep track of which Oppos live in Australia. Are the parrots indigenous, or were they brought there many years ago?

They are pretty much all endemic. Only found here. My guess is that my place would see maybe 10 perhaps 12 species of native parrot and cockatoo...plus many more other birds besides. The water trough is a never ending source of surprise...
